GM Reduces Plant Waste

4 cylinder 2010 Ford Fusion rated at 23/34 mpg city/hwy

A second member of Ford's 2010 Fusion lineup has achieved a best in class fuel economy rating from the EPA. The base four cylinder automatic transmission Fusion has been officially rated at 23 mpg city and 34 mpg on the highway.

BMW releases prices, mpg for diesel contenders

BMW's 335d

BMW today announced pricing and fuel efficiency of its first new 50-state legal clean diesel vehicles that are going on sale shortly. The new 335d sedan is rated at 23/36 mpg city/highway and will be priced from $44,725 while the X5 xDrive35d will get a 19/26 mpg rating with a $52,025 base price.

Ford's new small engines, hybrids pack efficency

Ford has revealed a wealth of details on the upgraded powertrains for its 2010 Fusion and Mercury Milan sedans that will be debuting at the Los Angeles Auto Show next month. Additional information was provided about the 2.5L four cylinder and 3.0L V6 that debuted earlier this year in the 2009 Escape crossover, along the new hybrid models that are expected to be by far the most fuel efficient mid-size sedans on the US market approaching 40 mpg in the city.

General Motors announces new four cylinder engine to built in Flint MI

After teasing the public for many months with a new high efficiency 1.4L four cylinder engine, General Motors announces  it will build two variants in Flint, MI in 2010. The automaker will spend $370 million to build a factory to produce 800 engines per day for the Chevrolet Volt and Cruze.

Marketing fuels ... along with the vehicles


With the explosion of alternative fuels, the rocketlike rise of oil above $100 a barrel and fears of climate change, automakers are re-thinking their fuel strategies and the marketing plans around them - even if those vehicles have yet to hit the road.
